Private Payment Options
Private payment is available for individuals who are not eligible for external funding to support their PAT treatment. Costs vary depending on the number of therapy sessions and the medicine protocol used (for example, psilocybin or MDMA and the number of dosage prescribed by the treating psychiatrist).
Early access to your superannuation may be available for compassionate or medical grounds to fund your therapy. Please speak to your Treatment Provider or refer to the ATO for more information.
Patient Support Fund
Mind Medicine Australia’s Patient Support Fund (PSF) helps people access Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies (PAT) who may not otherwise be able to afford it.
The Fund can subsidise up to 50% of total treatment costs, with a maximum contribution of $10,500 per patient. Support is prioritised for those experiencing financial hardship or barriers to care. You can see the approval criteria here.
The PSF is made possible through charitable donations and aims to make these therapies more equitable and accessible across Australia. We welcome your generous support to help make psychedelic treatment accessible to everyone in need here.
Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)
The Repatriation Commission and Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission (the Commissions) have agreed to fund Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy using MDMA or psilocybin for eligible DVA clients. The Commissions directed the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) to develop comprehensive guidelines and procedures to underpin funding of this novel treatment.

Using Your NDIS Plan
If you are an NDIS participant, you may be able to use your plan to fund parts of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy (PAT) as part of your approved therapeutic supports. PAT is a therapy-led intervention where medicines such as MDMA or psilocybin act only as short-term tools to enhance engagement in psychotherapy.
The NDIS does not fund the medicine itself, but may fund the therapy and recovery supports surrounding it — including preparation sessions, therapist attendance during treatment, post-session integration therapy, and psychosocial or community participation supports. These components can be claimed under categories such as Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living, Therapeutic Supports, or Psychosocial Recovery Coaching, provided they are framed around functional goals (for example, improving emotional regulation, rebuilding relationships, or returning to work or study).
Medibank
Medibank has an initiative to fund an innovative psychotherapy program as part of its commitment to improve mental health outcomes and access in Australia.
The initiative aims to make it easier for eligible Medibank customers to access world-leading psychotherapy treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
If you have Medibank cover, please call them directly to see if you’re eligible.
Medicare
Some elements of our treatment are refundable by Medicare. We will work with you to ensure that you claim the correct amounts on your treatment.
